Types and Characteristics of Conveyor Belts

Standard conveyor belts: To meet the requirements of various operating conditions, they can be manufactured in different configurations, including edge-enclosed belts, open-edge shrink-fit belts, mid-ribbed belts, and side-ribbed belts. These belts are suitable for conveying non-corrosive, non-abrasive bulk materials—such as lump, granular, and powdered substances—as well as packaged goods, under ambient temperature conditions. Examples include coal, coke, sand and gravel, cement, and other bulk or unitized materials.
Corrugated sidewall conveyor belt: composed of a base belt, sidewalls, and transverse partitions, it is ideally suited for conveying powdery, granular, small lump, paste-like, and liquid materials that are prone to spillage. It features a small footprint, flexible layout options, rapid installation, minimal maintenance requirements, low energy consumption, high belt strength, and long service life.
Patterned anti-slip conveyor belt: The working surface is covered with a patterned cover rubber, while the non-working surface is flat; together with the carcass, they form the belt. Depending on the type of material being conveyed and the conveyor’s incline angle, the pattern shape and height must also vary. Common patterns include chevron, figure-eight, herringbone, and pebble textures. This type of belt is suitable for conveying small to medium-sized lump, granular, and powdered materials, and is ideal for high-speed, medium-to-long-distance transport that requires strong impact resistance.
Heat-resistant conveyor belts are manufactured using materials of varying heat-resistance grades, depending on the primary failure modes that lead to belt damage and eventual loss of functionality. They are primarily used for conveying high-temperature materials, such as sintered ore, hot coke, cement clinker, and hot castings.
Polyester conveyor belts, also known as EP conveyor belts, wear-resistant conveyor belts, automated conveyor belts, or cement conveyor belts, feature high belt modulus, low elongation under load, excellent thermal stability, and superior impact resistance. They are ideally suited for medium- to long-distance material handling under conditions of moderate to heavy loads and high speeds. These belts are widely used in industries such as coal mining, mining operations, port handling, metallurgy, power generation, and chemical processing.
Flame-retardant steel-cord conveyor belt: a type of conveyor belt in which a rubber-covered steel-cord core serves as the traction and carrying element of the belt conveyor. It features high tensile strength, excellent impact resistance, long service life, minimal elongation under load, good troughing performance, and superior flexural fatigue resistance, making it well suited for long-distance, high-capacity, high-speed material conveyance. It is widely used in industries such as coal mining, mining, port operations, metallurgy, power generation, and chemical processing.
PVC conveyor belts: Products are categorized into belts for the tobacco industry, the logistics industry, the packaging industry, and other applications. Temperature ranges include cold-resistant belts (operating at temperatures as low as –40°C and above) and ambient-temperature belts (operating between –10°C and 80°C). The belt body exhibits excellent elasticity and is resistant to deformation. The carcass is constructed using high-strength, premium-grade all-cotton, nylon, or polyester canvas, while the cover layer is made from pure natural rubber combined with non-polluting compounding agents, resulting in a white or light-colored, environmentally friendly coating that does not compromise food hygiene or impart any off-flavors.
Food-grade conveyor belts: Comply with food safety standards and are suitable for material handling in the food, pharmaceutical, and other industries.
